About the role
The Director, Evaluation is a senior leadership position that plays a critical role in shaping and delivering Blueprint’s work with public sector and nonprofit clients. Reporting to Blueprint’s Competency Leader, the Director leads the development of rigorous evaluation solutions that help our clients strengthen the design, delivery and performance of public policies and programs.

This role requires deep expertise in evaluation and performance measurement combined with strong leadership and collaboration skills. You will lead a team of evaluation professionals, contribute to the development of inter-disciplinary solutions in partnership with advisory and other competency teams. 

You’ll be responsible for driving excellence in methodology, engagement delivery, and sector thought leadership. Key responsibilities

  • Engagement Delivery: Lead evaluation-specific client engagements and contribute to inter-disciplinary project teams to design and deliver impactful, evidence-informed solutions.
  • Evaluation Methods and Innovation: Advance the use of high-quality evaluation methodologies, tools, and approaches. Guide teams in selecting and applying methods that best meet client needs and context.
  • Business Development: Partner with advisory teams to identify new opportunities and co-develop compelling proposals that showcase Blueprint’s evaluation expertise.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide strategic oversight and ensure delivery excellence across evaluation engagements, with a focus on rigor, relevance, and client value.
  • Thought Leadership: Develop sector-specific perspectives, tools, and publications that advance evaluation practice and position Blueprint as a leader in the field.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of evaluation professionals. Support team growth, promote a culture of learning and collaboration, and ensure delivery readiness.

What we’re looking for

  • 15+ years of experience in the evaluation of public-funded policies and programs
  • 10+ years of experience working in advisory services or evaluation firm
  • Strong understanding of how to apply data and evidence to improve public policies and programs including knowledge of a range of evaluation methods
  • Experience working with the public sector in one or more public policy areas: employment and training, income security, housing, community safety and justice, or human services
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of developing client relationships and securing new opportunities
  • Excellent strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy and Administration, Social Services.
