About the role
Our team works collaboratively with governments, industry leaders, and community partners to unlock the power of data and evidence to design and deliver better policies, programs, and services and improve outcomes for Canadians.

The Analyst role is Blueprint’s entry level consulting position. In this role, you will support projects through data collection and analysis, secondary research, project coordination, and contributions to client deliverables and proposals. As an Analyst, you will bring curiosity, strong logical reasoning skills, and pragmatism to identifying how data and evidence can be used to achieve client needs and objectives. The successful candidate will work on multiple projects at any given time and will balance competing priorities and timelines with support from their manager.

Analysts at Blueprint have the opportunity to develop both specialist and generalist skillsets across our policy domains, depending on project needs and individual interests.

Key activities and responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing research operations activities and project logistics (e.g., organizing focus groups and interviews, preparing agendas and meeting materials, distributing survey incentives, contributing to project workplans and budgets)
  • Contributing to evidence and evaluation strategies for clients that include learning questions, logic models and/or theories of change, and data collection and analytical approaches
  • Assisting in the development of qualitative and quantitative data collection tools (e.g., surveys, focus group protocols, participatory activities)
  • Implementing data collection strategies including programming and fielding surveys, and supporting with interviews or focus groups
  • Cleaning and analyzing quantitative and/or qualitative data
  • Conducting secondary research (e.g., literature reviews, jurisdictional scans)
  • Contributing to briefing notes, reports, and knowledge mobilization materials for a range of internal and external audiences
  • Contributing to proposals, project pitches, and other business development activities (as needed)

Blueprint works with a coaching and mentorship learning approach for staff that is grounded in our belief in the critical importance of continuous learning and feedback. All staff are expected to work closely with, and seek constructive feedback from, senior team members with expertise in a range of disciplines—such as trauma-informed research, facilitation, program design, secondary research, and quantitative data analysis—as they expand their skillsets. Staff are also encouraged (and supported) to contribute to communities of practice and professional networks both within and outside of Blueprint.

What we’re looking for
Minimum requirements
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in the Social Sciences (e.g., Economics, Urban Planning, Psychology, Public Health, Political Science), Public Policy, or Public Administration
  • 1+ year(s) of experience working in client-facing, public sector and/or professional services contexts
  • Demonstrated interest in social services, public policy, data, and evidence in Canada 
Knowledge and skills
  • Experience coordinating or supporting research and evaluation projects
  • Data analysis, quantitative, qualitative or mixed-methods research experience
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to summarize complex information and prepare clear and concise briefing notes, reports, presentations, and knowledge mobilization materials for a range of audiences
  • High standards for accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to balance independent, focused work with collaborative work on multiple projects at any given time in a hybrid work environment
  • Ability to navigate tight timelines, prioritize time and tasks, actively communicate progress, promptly escalate challenges and risks, and propose solutions
  • Experience and confidence working alongside multiple partners and clients who may have different motivations and priorities
  • Experience and comfort working in contexts that are dynamic, ambiguous, and uncertain, and pivoting when priorities and needs change
  • Comfort working in a high-performance culture where team members are expected to give and receive timely, constructive, and candid feedback
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and willingness to learn and use tools and platforms (e.g., Slack, Qualtrics, Miro, Condens, Zoom, Microsoft Co-Pilot or ChatGPT)
  • Commitment to ongoing learning about anti-racist and equity-driven practice (experience working with historically and systemically excluded communities strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of evidence-based policy and practices, the social services sector in Ontario (or Canada more broadly), and evaluation is a plus

In the final stage of recruitment, candidates will be asked to take part in an in-person interview at Blueprint’s office.
